When you need an ESIA
Nigeria's Environmental Impact Assessment Act requires an assessment before major projects such as power plants, dams, roads, industrial facilities and large estates can go ahead. Lenders and development partners usually ask for an ESIA that covers social impacts as well as environmental ones.
What our assessments cover
- Screening and scoping of the project and the issues that matter for the site.
- Environmental baseline surveys of land, water, vegetation and existing land use, supported by our own survey and GIS mapping.
- Socio-economic baseline and consultation with affected communities.
- Impact assessment and mitigation, with an environmental and social management plan.
- Reporting prepared for submission to the regulator.
Why surveyors make better ESIAs
Because we survey and map the site ourselves, project boundaries, sensitive areas and affected properties are measured, not estimated. Our planners, Dr. Lawrence Ibrahim and Dr. Joseph Balogun, are registered town planners; Dr. Balogun holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Resource Planning.
